This website is inspired by my childhood memories of Christmas workshops with my grandmother. As a child, I spent every Christmas at a workshop with my grandmother, who patiently made templates and cut out heart baskets for us.

About Heart Baskets

Heart baskets, or Christmas baskets as they are often called, have a long history and a special place in Nordic Christmas traditions. The origin of heart baskets can be traced back to Denmark, where they have been used as Christmas tree decorations for generations. The oldest known heart basket was made by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen in the mid-1800s. This first basket had no handle and was simpler than those we see today, but it laid the foundation for the tradition.
